JAMES T. KENT.
James T. Kent, well known in this section, died on Tuesday afternoon, July 24, 1923, at his bungalow at Holmes, from the effects of a stroke of paralysis. He had been in his usual health until two weeks previous to his death, when he experienced the first stroke and later grew worse until the end came.
Mr. Kent was born in the town of Kent on a farm now forming part of the Chapin estate. His parents were Harry S. and Phebe (Washburn) Kent. He was the of their family of children, one brother, Peter Kent, and three sisters, Laura, wife of George Fowler, and Betsey and Letitia Kent, having died in past years. He is survived by his wife and also by two nephews: Harry S. Kent of Ludingtonville and Herbert Kent of Holmes. They had no children.
In earlier years Mr. Kent was a member of the New York City police force. Afterwards he located at Coney Island and engaged in the business of bottling beverages and had been a resident there for a longtime. This year he purchased a building site of his nephew, Herbert Kent, at Holmes where he had erected a fine bungalow with all modern improvements. It was completed and he had been occupying it a few weeks before he was stricken with illness.
His funeral services were held there on Friday at 2 p.m. and the remains were brought to Carmel and interred in the family plot in Raymond Hill Cemetery, where his parents rest.
