ELIZA ANN MOUNCE

Eliza Ann Mounce was born September 21, 1893 in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana to Ollie Samanthia Baker Spurlock Mounce and James D. Mounce. Eliza died January 9, 1951 in Jackson, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. Her Louisiana Death Certificate # 0404 states that she is buried in the Old Haynesville Cemetery, Claiborne Parish, Louisiana. We have searched for her burial place and have not found a grave or tombstone anywhere. Some of our family who was old enough to remember when she died states that she is buried in Hurricane Cemetery beside her mother. There is a space for her grave there but, no marker.

Eliza was sick all of her life and spent most of her time in bed. My husband, David was ten years old when she died. He can remember her as being a very small frail person. I believe that she had serious developmental issues.

Eliza's father went fishing in Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana. While fishing he had a epileptic seisure and fell out of the boat and drowned. This happened before 1900. His place of burial is unknown at this time. Eliza was around 5 or 6 years old when her father died.
