Robert Eite was born 15 February 1867 in Spittlegate, Grantham, Lincolnshire, England. He was the son of John Eite and Mary Ann Pulfrey.

He married Alice Pitts (1869-1901) on 13 June 1889 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. They had six children:

- Ethel Ann Eite (1891-1980)
- Robert Henry Eite (1893-1945)
- Hattie Eite (1895-1895)
- Alice Lillian Eite (1896-1991)
- Edna Thelma Eite (1899-1948)
- Blanche Bush Eite (1901-1961)

He married Lizzie Campbell (1873-1966) on 1 June 1903 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. They had five children:

-Ellen May Eite (1904-1907)
-Fern Lucille Eite (1905-2007)
-William Kenneth Eite (1908-1990)
-Gladys Arline Eite (1910-2004)
-Faye Ione Eite (1913-2003)
