Mr. John Henry Adams, age 89, of Cedartown passed away September 4, 2006. He was born on June 18, 1917 in Coal City, Alabama.

Mr. Adams was a member of Broken Arrow Baptist Church in Coal City, Alabama and attended Harmony Baptist Church in Cedartown.

He worked for H.E. Hennigh Construction Company for 53 years.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Adams; parents, William Henry Adams and Letha Benefield Adams; sisters, Bessie Welch, Maudie Smith, Myrtice Campbell and Lucille Ray; brothers, Sam Adams, John Adams and Lee Adams; 3 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and step sons, Albert Isbell and Ronald Wayne Isbell.

Mr. Adams is survived by his wife, Helen L. Adams; daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra Adams Tant and William Tant and Betty Adams Oliver and Seals Oliver; sons and daughters-in-law, William "Bo" Adams and Janice Adams and Danny Adams and Deborah Adams and step-daughters, Patricia Heron and Jan Argo. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, 5 step grandchildren, 7 step great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 6th at 2:00p.m. in the Chapel of the Olin L. Gammage and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. James Glaze and Rev. Moses Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Polk Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 5th from 7:00p.m. until 9:00p.m. at Gammage Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Darrin Kines, W.J. Cole, Tim Tuck, Robert Mullinax, Darrell "Scooter" Stephens and Danny O'Neal. Honorary pallbearers are Mr. Adams' grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, a great great granddaughter, Katelyn Grace Tierce, born on September 4, 2006; step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
