Remitz, Mickey "Honey" Age 87, of Forest Lake. Died July 5, 2008. Graduate of Humboldt High School, was voted best girl athlete; Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church where she served as lector & communion distributor; Past president of local ACCW and also served nationally; Navy veteran of WWII, stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center, IL, 1942-1945; First woman to be elected by Col. Knight to serve on the Washington Co. Draft Board where she served 5 years, plus 7 years as Registrar; Received a letter of commendation from President Gerald Ford.

Preceded in death by brother, Dick Mickelsen; sisters, Ginny Mickelsen, Dorothy Flanagan. Survived by husband of 59 years, Joseph; children, Rita (Charlie) Flory, Joe "Skip" (Colleen), Steve (Judy), Dan, Mike, Pat, Chris (Barb), Colleen (Mike) Grant, Duke; 13 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 11, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visiation 4-8 p.m., Thursday, with 7 p.m. Am. Legion Service and 7:30 p.m. Rosary at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Drive, Forest Lake. Visitation will continue 9-10 a.m., Friday at the funeral home. Interment Calvary Cemetery.
