Louise A. (Windholz) Schmidtberger, 61, Victoria, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016, at Hays Medical Center. She was born April 19, 1954, in Hays to Otto and Blanche (Weber) Windholz. She was a 1972 graduate of Victoria High School.

She married Jerry Schmidtberger on Jan. 26, 1974, in Victoria.

They both sang for weddings, funerals, anniversaries and other events from 1972 to 2007. They were high school religion teachers, CYO sponsors and marriage prep volunteers. She was an in-home day care provider, worked at the Ellis County Star, Insurance Planning of Hays and Robben Insurance of Victoria.

She was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis, the St. Fidelis Adult Church Choir and Cantor, and Daughters of Isabella, all of Victoria. She was a member of the "Nostalgics" singing group with Marilyn Braun and Kathy Dreiling-Amrein and Sweet & Sour Kraut Variety Show.

Survivors include her husband, Jerry Schmidtberger, of the home; two sons, Brandon Schmidtberger and wife, Angie, Overland Park, and Corey Schmidtberger and wife, Kim, Olathe; two brothers, Virgil Windholz and wife, Louise, Ness City, and Otto Windholz and wife, Jackie, Houston; two sisters, Charlotte Blake and husband, Don, Augusta, and Carolyn Pfannenstiel, Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Paige Schmidtberger, Brody Schmidtberger and Jacob Schmidtberger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert L. and Marie Schmidtberger, Victoria; five brothers-in-law, Gary Schmidtberger and wife, Wanda, Hays, Leroy Schmidtberger and wife, LeeAnn, Wayne Schmidtberger, Ron Schmidtberger and wife, Kim, all of Victoria, and Pat Schmidtberger, Wichita; and a sister-in-law, Judy Rupp and husband, Rick, Victoria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jonah Schmidtberger; and a great-nephew, Dustin Blake.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria; burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, both at the basilica. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday, followed by a vigil at 7pm, both at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Basilica of St. Fidelis or Alzheimers Association. Clines Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria, KS 67671, is in charge of arrangements.
