Mass of Christian Burial for Howard Johnson, 89, of Tyler is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 13, 2016 at the Chapel of Saints Peter and Paul with Father Hank Lanik officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Visitation is scheduled for 5-6:00pm, Saturday with a rosary following at 6:00pm at the funeral home.

Mr. Johnson passed away on Friday, March 4 in Tyler.

Howard was born on January 14, 1927 in Keokuk, Iowa to the late J. B. Johnson and Loretta Ahern Johnson. He attended Tyler High School and then served in the US Navy during World War II. Following his service he held various jobs in the fields of building, engineering and surveying. For several years he worked for Cowan and Associates as a surveyor. He was a lifelong member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.

He is survived by his step-daughter, Diane Estes of Bullard; grandchildren, Bill Estes and wife Amy of Bullard, Burt Estes and wife Fleurette of Washington, DC; great grandchildren, Amanda Estes of McKinney and Mason Estes of Bullard; brothers, Raymond Johnson and wife Joann, John L. Johnson and wife Adele of Tyler, Gene Johnson of Tyler, Kenneth Johnson and wife Marilynn of Huntsville and Michael Johnson and wife Jo Ann of Fort Worth; sister, Janet Johnson of Tyler and sister-in-law, Emma Jean Johnson of Tyler and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Johnson; brother, Mickey Johnson; sister, Rosemary Johnson; son-in-law R.L. Estes and sister-in-law, Tommie Johnson.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Johnson, Mike Johnson, Pat Johnson, Gary McClure, Josh McClure and David Humphrey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the March of Dimes , 300 Paluxy Dr. #115, Tyler, TX. 75703 and the Salvation Army, 633 N. Broadway Ave., Tyler, TX. 75701.
