Husband of Mary E Rose (1832-1880), who was mother to his sons John E, George H, Charles Andrew, and Wallace E Meade. After Mary's passing, Chauncey married Sarah Ellen Drake, who became the mother of his younger five children, before her untimely passing just ten days before her husband.

CHAUNCEY MEADE

Chauncey Meade died at his home in North Waverly, Friday evening, March 15, 1901, at 6:30 o'clock, after an Illness of only ten days of Bright's disease and pneumonia. Deceased had been a well-known resident of this vicinity for about forty-five years. He leaves five sons, Geo. H ,of Hornellsvile; Charles A., of Waverly; Wallace, of VanEtten; Jesse and Elmer, and three daughters, Misses Emma, Birdie B., and Bertha V., all at home; also one brother, James, of California, and one sister, Mrs. Jones, of East Waverly. He was born at Mount Salem, Sussex county, N. J., April 16, 1830. Funeral services were conducted at the chapel Monday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. J. W. Nicholson, pastor of the M. E. church, of which the deceased had been a consistent member for about thirty years. It will be remembered that Mrs. Meade died only ten days before of pleuro-pneumonia. The sympathy of the entire community is with the five bereaved ones at home.
