Ruth Butler, 62, 103 Von Cannon Drive, Johnson City, died Tuesday, November 13, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Butler was a native of Yancey County, N.C., and the daughter of the late Harry M. and Bessie Ellison McCracken. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Butler.
Mrs. Butler was a member of Milligan Free Will Baptist Church and attended College Park Free Will Baptist Church. She was an employee of Empire Furniture Company.

Survivors include a son, Michael Keith Butler, Elizabethton; a daughter and son-in-law, Kristine and Jerry Roberts, Johnson City; a grandchild, Shawn Presley, Johnson City; two sisters, June McCracken, Gray, and Shirley Martin, Lexington, N.C.; and two brothers, LeRoy McCracken, Burnsville, N.C., and Douglas McCracken, Hillembrand, N.C. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

BUTLER -- Funeral services for Ruth Butler, 62, 103 Von Cannon Drive, Johnson City, who died Tuesday, November 13, 2001, will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 15, at Tetrick Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace, with the Rev. D.C. Byrd officiating. Graveside services and interment will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, November 16, at Butler Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be selected from friends. Everyone will meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Friday to go in procession to the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the residence of her daughter, Kristine Roberts, 144 Taylor Town Road, Johnson City, at any time. Condolences may be sent to the family via e-mail address [email protected].
