Connie Romanello

Connie Romanello, 76, registered nurse, and a resident of 4213 Brandon Lane, Beltsville, Md., formerly of Shenandoah, died Tuesday at the Laurel Regional Hospital, Laurel, Md.
Born in Shenandoah, she was the daughter of the late Alberico and Maria (Greco) Cicioni, and lived most of her life in Maryland.
A graduate of the former J.W. Cooper High School, Shenandoah, she received her nurses training at the Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1945.
She did her nurses training in the Cadet Nurses Corps at the Digon General Army Hospital in France.
For 40 years, she was an active volunteer in the areas of parks and recreation, Girl Scouts, and numerous community activities, all in the Washington, D.C. area. Recently, she was honored by having a room dedicated in her name in the Beltsville Community Center, Beltsville, Md., and received the Ralph C. Wilson Award, given to those who have demonstrated an extraordinary contribution of service, dedication, resources and time as a National Recreation and Park Association volunteer. The NRPA Mid-Atlantic Regional Council named their highest volunteer award as the Connie Romanello Citizen Citation, an award she also received. She was also the recipient of the Prince George's County Women of Achievement Award.
She was a member of St. Joseph"s Catholic Church, Beltsville, Md.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were brothers, Jack and Albert Cicioni Jr.
Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Victor Romanello; a son, Charles, at home; daughters, Rita Fuller, Fairfax, Va., and Anita Lembo, Camp Springs, Md.; brothers, Frank, Pottsville, John, Hometown, and Victor and Alfred Cicioni, both of Ringtown; a sister, Raphael Galinas, Chester, Pa.; three grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Shenandoah, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the National Recreation and Park Association, for the Joseph Lee Memorial Library, 22377 Belmont Ridge Road, Ashburn, Va. 20148-4501, or St. Joseph"s Catholic Church, 11007 Montgomery Road, Beltsville, Md. 20705.
