Amos came to Wisconsin with his parents, Benjamin and Sarah Clark Tibbitts, in 1846 at 9 years of age. In 1860 he married Miss Anna Simpson, to them were born four children: Gertie, Lodie, Wallace and Lowell. He took over the family farm at Hingham and made a home for his mother and father during their old age. He lived there until selling the farm in 1909 and moving into Hingham. The old section of the Hingham Cemetery rests on part of the original Tibbitts farm.
