Life Legacy

Reuben “R.J.” Grimes Jr., 72, passed away on February 26, 2016 in a local hospital. R.J. served his country in the U.S. Army for 6 years, and retired from the American Press after 29 years. He was a founding member the Krewe Du Bon Coeur and Krewe Des Danseurs Fou. R.J. was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to the Habibi Shiners. He enjoyed fishing, loved sports, especially LSU, and cooking meals for his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.



R.J. is survived by his wife of 30 years, Amy Grimes of Sulphur; his sons, Andy Grimes and wife, Joanna of Westlake and John Grimes of Sulphur; his daughter, Helen Grimes of Sulphur; his 4 grand-dogs; his sister, Maxine Finch and husband Bill; his uncle, G.H. Nelson and wife Betty; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and R.J., Sr.; and step-father, Earl Denny.



Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lonnie Gothrup officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, 2016 from 5-9 P.M. with a Celebration of Life with music at 6 P.M. with Chris Sensat and Britt Godwin. Visitation will continue on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 9 A.M. until time of the service. Pallbearers will be Richard Nelson, David Finch, Whit Finch, Dennis Hernandez, Chad Hicks, Chuck Stephenson, and honorary pall-bearers, Dr. Lee J. Monlezun and John Hicks.
