Vinita Hood Brown of Midwest City passed peacefully in her sleep September 27 at Methodist Manor in Tulsa, where she had lived for three years. She was 99 years old.

She was born in Guymon, Oklahoma to Ed and Grace Hood in 1907. She grew up in Duncan and moved to Midwest City in 1947 with her husband Aaron Buster Brown, who died in 1981, and her four children, Wally of Oklahoma City, Joe of Coppell, Texas, Neta Garza-Ortiz, and Sue Rigsby of Midwest City.

She is survived by nine grandchildren. Rodne Brown of New York City, Mark Brown of Piedmont, Rev. Byron Brown of Big Spring, Tx., Craig Brown, of Dallas, Tx., Denise Spikes of Coppell, Tx., Marcy Hering, of Dallas, Tx., Steven Ortiz of Tulsa, Elisa Cline of McPherson, Ks., and Keri Ortiz of Tulsa, Dannelle Rigsby and Charles Rigsby of Midwest City.

She was a wonderful cook, a wedding planner and artist. Vinita loved flowers and music and was devoted to God and helping others. She was a life long member of the Church of the Nazarene.

As a final gift to medical science, she has donated her body to the OU Medical School.

Memorial service: Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006 at Will Rogers Methodist Church in Tulsa.
