Born in Goodman, Missouri on June 7, 1922, Mr. Stites had been a resident of Alamo for more than 70 years. He was a proud Navy veteran of WW II, serving on various destroyers operating in the Pacific. Junior joined the Alamo Volunteer Fire Department when first organized. Following an enjoyable career with the US Post Office in Alamo, Junior retired after some 30 years of service.
Junior was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ruth, of 60 years. Among his most treasured memories were the motor home trips he and Ruth shared with their family and friends during retirement.
Junior is survived by three children; Bill Stites (Kathie) of Memphis, Tennessee, Terry Powers (Marty) of South Padre Island, Texas, and Patsy Sandvig of Alamo, Texas. He was also blessed with three grandchildren, Kyle Sandvig, Kelly Ball, and Allison Prater, and three great-grandchildren.
