David James Bigpond was the son of Kessler and Lucy Bigpond residing in Bristow, Oklahoma.
He attended Chilocco Indian School. After his graduation from Chilocco, David received his bachelor's degree from UCLA in Sociology. He went on to get his Masters Degree in Public Health. He retired as a Quality Assurance officer.

David was united in marriage to Joan Fannie Sittinghawk on July 3, 1956. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage until her passing February 16, 2009. He was a member of the Choska Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing softball, fishing, traveling with the family and loved reading his Bible.

He is survived by four children; three brothers; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife.

Wake services are 5:00PM, Monday, June 24, 2013 at Hutchins-Maples Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM, Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at the Indian Community Center in Seiling, Oklahoma with interment to follow at the Cantonment Cemetery in Canton, Oklahoma.
