William Harrison Cothran was a graduate of Greenwood (SC) High School and a graduate of The Citadel in the Class of 1928. He served in WWII as a Captain in the US Army, and received the Purple Heart for injuries during the invasion of Leyte.
He worked as an internal auditor for the American Foreign Insurance Co., for the Sterling Drug Co., and for the Coca-Cola Company.
He was a Mason and a Shriner, a member of the First Presbyterian Church, president of the Magnolia Cemetery Association, a past treasurer of the Greenwood and the State Genealogical Societies, and a member of several other civic and fraternal organizations.
Mr. Cothran was unmarried.
