Mr. William “Bill” Beacher Allen, age 84, of Paradise Lane, Blairsville, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 in the Union General Hospital following an extended illness. Bill was born August 20, 1931 in Fannin County, GA, later residing in Blairsville. He was the son of the late Rev. Homer Allen and the late Ella Sluder. Mr. Allen served in the Korean War in the US Army. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a son Jerry Allen, sister, Myrt Walz Allen, brothers Don and Andy Allen.
Surviving family members include wife, son, daughter; sisters and brother-in-law; brothers, and sister-in-law, granddaughters and grandson. A host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. from the Helping Hand Church. Special music was presented. Interment followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the North Georgia Honor Guard. The family met with friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 7-10 p.m.
