Brian M. Roman, 27, of Rotterdam, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Brian was born in Pittsfield, Mass. He graduated in 1997 from Guilderland High School where he played soccer and lacross. Following graduation, Brian attended Hudson Valley Community College. In 1998, Brian entered the United States Marine Corp. He served as a crew chief with the 2nd Marine Division Amphibious Assault Battalion at Camp Lejeune, N.C. Brian served in Iraq from February to June of 2003. He was honorably discharged in June 2006. Brian worked as a laborer for several area contractors and was presently working for Multi-Phase in Altamont. He also was a snowboarding instructor at Jimmy Peak. Brian enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his mortorcycle and working on his home. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Joseph Roman and his maternal grandfather, Frank Reilly. He is survived by his father, Paul M. Roman and his wife Jean of Rotterdam; his mother, Kathleen R. Butterstein and her husband George of Princetown; one brother, Peter J. Roman of Charlotte, N.C.; his fiancee, Katie Boland of Rotterdam; a step-daughter, Kalista Boland; his paternal grandmother, Janet Roman of Mechanicville; and his maternal grandmother, Margaret Reilly of Clifton Park. He is also survived by many stepbrothers, stepsisters, cousins, aunts and uncles. Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home, 1605 Helderberg Avenue. Funeral services will be Monday 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations be made to the Brian M. Roman Memorial Fund, for the benefit of Katie Bolan, c/o SEFCU, 700 Patroon Creek Blvd., Albany, NY 12206, Attention Business Office.
