FUNERAL TODAY FOR D. J. ABERNATHY
Funeral services for Dennis J. Abernathy, 78, of 136 1/2 South Locust Street, were held at the McCracken Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. today (Thursday), the Rev. Albert Rust, officiating. Burial was in the Tower Hill Cemetery. Mr. Abernathy died at 3:40 a.m. Tuesday, Apr. 5, in Huber Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since Nov. 26. He was born Dec. 5, 1881, in Seventysix, Mo., son of John D. and Almina Davis Abernathy, and was married to Margaret Christenson, who preceded him in death. He was a retired coal miner, a member of the First Baptist Church and the Progressive Mine Workers of America. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lillian M. Cloe of Pana; 2 sons, Henry E. of Taylor, Wis. and Lealand S. of New Castle, Inc.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Bertha A. Hess and Mrs. Myrtle Hoover, both of Duarte, Cal.; and one grandchild.
