Mary Anita (Harris) Bruff was born Dec. 13, 1926 in Dallas, Tx. and she died Mar. 12, 2016 in Coweta, Ok. She was the daughter of: Luther Bently Harris & Lillian Elsie "Dollie" Harville. She lived in a home with her 2 sisters: Lillian B. & Marilyn Ann. Mary was raised by her parents that were hearing challenged. She later went on to school & then college, where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing & worked as a Registered Nurse in Labor & Delivery for over 30 years, until her retirement in the early 80's. She was well trained in Sign Language and even taught Prenatal Classes to individuals that were hearing impaired. She also volunteered countless hours helping when signing was needed in the VA Hospitals, at the VFW, at the American Legion, or anywhere she could be of service. She received a Certificate of Achievement signed by former President Ronald Reagan for her many hours of countless volunteer work, making life more better for those around her.
On Feb. 14, 1951 she married: Samuel McGrath Bruff in Las Vegas, NV. They made there home in Garden Grove, CA. for most of there working years. That's where they met there closet friends: The Brewer's, who became more like Family than anyone else to them! In 1989 They moved to Tahlequah, OK., to be close to The Brewer's for there retirement years. Mary enjoyed fishing, traveling, crocheting, & cooking. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tahlequah & a member of The Red Hat Society. She also enjoyed many outings with her closest friends. As Her & Sam's health faded, she relied on her Family(The Brewer's) & close friends for assistance & support, especially after Sam's passing in 2000!
Mary had a warm heart & a welcoming smile anywhere she went & was always there to listen when you needed a friend the most. She will be loved & greatly missed in our hearts forever, by all who knew her!
