Howard S. Caven, 94, of Conover, passed away at 11:13 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013. Born on Feb. 17, 1919, in Miami County, Howard was a son of the late Franklin Clay and Lillian Mercedes (Mitchell) Caven. He married Helen M. Seamon on Aug. 2, 1941, and she preceded him in death on March 31, 2013. They were married for 71 years. Howard is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Vic and Becky Caven and Dean and Jolynn Caven, all of Fletcher. He was a loving grandfather to two grandchildren: Clay Caven of Fletcher and Cara (Bryan) Fisher of Charlotte, N.C. Howard was a 1937 graduate of Brown Township High School, Conover, and he attended the Springfield Business College. He attended Greenview United Church of Christ, Sidney. Howard served his country in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was stationed in New Guinea and Australia. He was the owner of Caven's and Sons Packing in Conover. Howard was a former member of the Lena Social #217 Masonic Lodge, a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Member and a member of the Antioch Shrine. His favorite hobby was fishing. A Masonic service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Visitation for friends will be held from 6:30-8:30 p.m. also. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in Fletcher Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Howard's name may be made to Hospice of Miami County, P.O.
