VALPARAISO VISITOR--- Thursday, June 26, 1941 ----Death of Basil Hudkins --- Basil Hudkins, for many years a resident of Valparaiso, died in Lincoln Wenesday night of last week. He had been in failing health for several years but was able to maintain his own home, though he spent some time in Lincoln with his daughter, Mrs. Dutter. He had gone to Lincoln a couple of weeks ago and it was at her home that he died. Funeral services were held in the Valparaiso Christian Church last Saturday afternoon, with Rev. Nelson Gardner in charge. Mrs. Grant Nielson sang "Never Alone" "Abide With Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Miss Edith Gieb played the acommpaniment and during the service. Burial was in the Valparaiso Cemetery and pallbearers were Joe Novak, Dave Carlson, C.C. Edie, Chas. Nichelson, George Wagner and W. C. Scott.
