Norman sang with a group out of the Mannington Senior Center called the Belles and Gents. They sang in many places during their time together including nursing homes, churches, senior center, and for various groups such as the United Way, a sorority, and for parades. He was a member of the Charity Baptist Church at Oakdale where he sang in the choir. As a boy, he attended the Snodgrass School on Warrior Fork that is now on display at the Fairmont State University campus.

Red loved his family and his church family. He was a wonderful and kind man to everyone. He had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile. He also loved the family pets: two cats named Shadow and Miracle. He will be greatly missed.
