Hit-Run Motorist Kills Pedestrian

October's sixth traffic death was posted early Tuesday when Pedro Beltran, 26, 146 Goodwin Street, was found lying face down in Brazos Street near Saltillo Street by Radio Patrolmen E. L. Dorsett and A. Sauceda. Taken to the Robert B. Green Memorial Hospital Beltran was pronounced dead on arrival. He had suffered a broken neck and crushed chest.

Officers were convinced that Beltran was the victim of a hit-and-run driver. He had last been seen by Alfred Gomez, night man at a filling station on Produce Row, when Beltran left on a truck with three men for the purpose of showing them the way to the Laredo Highway. It was afterwards learned that Beltran had left the truck on the Frio City Road and was evidently walking home when he was struck down.
