The funeral was held Nov. 17, 2009, at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mark Beane and the Rev. A.J. Hendrick officiating. Burial was at Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a Randolph County native, formerly employed by Bossong Hosiery Mill, retired from Black and Decker and was a volunteer with the Randolph Chapter of the American Cancer Society Road to Recovery program.
Surviving are her husband, George Allen Cockerham; sons, Mark Cockerham of Asheboro and Michael Cockerham of Coleridge; brothers, Albert Gardner of Ramseur and Earl Gardner of Franklinville; one granddaughter.
