Julie Janeen Brostuen English, 69, of La Crosse, WI, died March 17 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Julie was born April 6, 1946 in Beloit, WI, the daughter of Ruth O. and Benford “Benny” O. Brostuen. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School. Julie married Dr. John T. “Jack” English on January 20, 1979. He predeceased her on October 20, 2008. Julie attended First Congregational Church in La Crosse, WI. Her greatest joys and passion in life were being a wife, mother and grandmother. Her later years were spent doting on her three grandchildren. Early on, she, Jack, and their children, enjoyed travelling. There were the grand western ski trips and memorable excursions to the Hawaiian paradise, one of Julie’s favorite places on earth. She also worked as an administrative assistant at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL before moving to Lacrosse. Julie’s grand style, elegance, generosity and grace would light up a room and her energy and smile always made everyone feel welcome. She made her flair for decorating and entertaining seem effortless to those fortunate enough to be in her company. Most of all, Julie loved others, loved life and always kept visitors guessing with her wry sense of humor and wit. She would never forget to say with conviction, “I love you; give my love to everyone.”

Survivors include her brother; daughter; sons; granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held at First Congregational Church at 2503 Main St. in La Crosse on Tuesday, March 22 at 12:30 pm. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until time of services. Julie will be cremated after service with assistance from Dickinson Family Funeral and Crematory.
