Obituary for Patricia M. Coval
COLUMBIA – Patricia Marie Erickson Coval, 67, died Monday, March 21, 2016. Born October 11, 1948 in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Richard and Marie Kohl Erickson.
Pat was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her lively personality, cheerful spirit, kindness and compassion touched the lives of many and made her a stranger to no one and a friend to all. She loved the warm breeze of the ocean and the sand between her toes, was an avid quilter, wonderful cook and talented painter, but the true focus of her life and ultimate source of joy were her family, friends and faith. She was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church for 38 years, teaching religious education and volunteering as a Eucharistic minister. Her family will always remember and forever miss her smile, her warmth, her patience, her advice and her unwavering faith in God.
Pat is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Thomas Patrick Coval; children, Anne Marie Coval (John) Hanson of Columbia, SC and Michelle Theresa Coval (Tony) Reno of Indian Land, SC; one granddaughter, Nora Marie Hanson; and brothers, John Edwin (Diane) Erickson of Frederick, MD, Richard Louis Erickson of Camillus, NY and Frederick Paul (Marilyn) Erickson of Sturgeon Bay, WI. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Thomas Coval.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to all those who helped care for Pat throughout the years, and invites all who knew her to join them in celebrating Pat's life. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 with Mass at 11:00 a.m. and a luncheon to follow in the church hall. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Bush River Memorial Gardens, 5400 Bush River Road, Columbia, SC 29212. Temples-Halloran Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews is in charge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church, 120 Marydale Lane, Columbia, SC 29210.
