Martha E "Mattie" (Negley) Estes was born about December 1868 in Tennessee.
She was married about 1888 as the 1st wife of Jefferson Davis "Jeff" Estes (1868-1906), the son of William Estes and Frances (Miller) Estes.
Mattie died about 1895 and was buried in the Estes family burial ground at "6 miles on Murfreesboro Road in Family Burial Ground," and because later the cemetery was in the way of improvements and expansion of the Nashville Municipal Airport, a good number of both marked and unmarked burials there were re-interred in Nashville City Cemetery in 1958, and those re-burials included at least 15 members of the Estes family, including Mattie.
