Joseph joined the Bethlehem Fire Department in 1964 and became the Assistant Fire Chief in 1991. He served the fire department for 37 years. He also helped organize the Annual Harvest Ball to raise awareness of the public's understanding of burn prevention and raise funds for the Burn Foundation.
Survivors: Joseph is survived by his sons, Joseph N. Burghardt of Pittsburgh; and Allan S. Burghardt of Bethlehem; and his grandchildren Cole and Cassidy.
Services: Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. All are welcome to come and pay their respects.
