Rachel Louise Bolick Elrod, age 86, wife of the late Tilman H. Elrod, peacefully passed from this life in the early morning hours on Tuesday, March 22, 2016.
Louise was born on February 10, 1930, as the fifth of ten children born to the late Tom and Ocie Bolick. As well as her parents, Louise was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. She is survived by sisters Peggy Hardin and Gail Eppley.
Louise attended Cramerton High School and was an honors graduate from Gaston College with an Associate's Degree in Industrial Engineering. She was a charter member of Day Star Baptist, an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
Louise is also survived by her children: Leona Johnson of Charlotte, NC; Sue Washam of Gastonia, Tim Elrod (wife, Melanie) of Maiden and Donna Lewis (husband, Allen) of Gastonia. She is further survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Kevin Laye (wife, Angela; daughter, Caitlyn); Mandy Hill (husband, Jason; son Jaxson); Kurt Reid; Tripp Lewis (wife, Jenny) and Cramer Lewis.
A celebration of her resurrection will be held on Friday, March 25, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at McLean Funeral Directors, 515 N. Central Avenue, Belmont, North Carolina. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park.
