Funeral services for John Lawson Reed, age 60, former resident of Cherokee County, who died in a Rome hospital, Saturday, were held at 3 p.m. Sunday from the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Rev. S. H. Pendley officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove cemetery, with Jennings of Rome in charge.
Mr. Reed was born in Cherokee County, Aug. 22, 1898, son of the late Elijah and Laura Knight {Gentry} Reed and had been a resident of Rome since 1929. He was a farmer and saw mill operator.
Survivors include the widow, the former Carsie Mae Hunter, to whom he married Sept 14, 1940; 3 brothers, Frank (#262459675) of Sand Mountain and Henry ( #38899468) and Elige (#57065580) Reed of Rome, Rt. 4; 3 sisters, Mrs. Josie Shaw, Rome Rt. 4, Mrs. Ann Bolinger of Cave Spring, and Mrs. Pearl Bolinger (#135525102) of Cedartown.
