Vard worked for Kaibab Lumber for many years and was an expert at figuring out ways around problems and had an unusual talent for finding practical solutions. Always willing to help with projects large or small.
Vard loved to visit with anyone. Many hours were spent telling stories while helping others or just visiting. He and Vina loved to garden and shared their fruit and produce with everyone, which occasioned more story telling.
He enjoyed taking visitors around and showing them the beauty of Southern Utah, camping with his family and just get in the car and go. After retiring he kept active helping his daughter and her family on the farm and working other diverse jobs such as setting vaults for his niece Lurana Mosdell and her family at Mosdell Mortuary for many years and acting as a shuttle driver and tour guide for nephew Mel and others on trail rides around the canyon country.
Vard is survived by daughter Tamra, grandchildren Teresa, Machelle, Jason, Maggie and Katie; fifteen great grandchildren; and sister Myrna. He was preceded in death by his wife Vina, sons Lindsay Taylor and Jeffery Charles and brothers Boyd, Kelvin and Bruce Meeks.
Funeral services held March 26 in Kanab Utah. Arrangements made with Mosdell Mortuary of Kanab.
