ACKERMAN, Jason Ryan, 21, of Odessa, died Saturday, June 3, 2006. Jason was anhonors graduate of Sickles High School and a member of their wrestling team. He was currently in his senior year at theUniversity of South Florida working towards a degree in mass commun-ications. Jason was a black belt in two forms of the martial arts including Tae Kwon Do. He also participated in the Junior Olympics in the Tae Kwon Do division. Jason's interests extended beyond sports, along with his family he was a volunteer for the Children's Cancer Center and extended himself even further by dedicating himself to tutoring the children at the center. Jason was very outgoing, always reaching out to make others laugh and feel comfortable; he was always the "life of the party." Jason's gentle heart allowed him to treasure each and every friendship and relationship he ever had. We have lost a truly remarkable young man and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving parents, Ron and Tina Ackerman; cherished sister, Sheree' Goldie Ackerman; beloved maternal grandparents, Roberto and Glothine Porras; caring great aunts, Roz Sherman and Esther Horowitz; devoted aunts and uncles, Barry and Audra Ackerman, Ira Ackerman, Tim Porras, Rob and Barbara Porras and Michelle and Mykael Marinelli; numerous cousins, extended family and friends. We wish to thank all of those who were such a special part of Jason's life: Kasey, Aaron, Andrew, Ryan, Tony and all others that were so important to him but too numerous to mention.
