Wayne Clifford Lemons, son of the late Tennyson James and Arizona (Watts) Lemons, was born at Huggins, Mo., Oct. 8, 1921, and died Dec. 31, 1971, at the age of 50 years, two months and 23 days.

He grew up in the Huggins community and attended Plato High School, graduating in 1942. He entered the United States Army and served with the 69th Armoured Infantry Battalion in the European, African, and Middle Eastern campaigns and was released from active duty Oct. 20, 1945.

On November 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Louise Cantrell and to this union four children were born, one son, Garry, died in infancy.

Mr. Lemons worked for the Post Engineers for over 20 years.

He attended the Pleasant Hill Christian Church at Roby.

Survivors are his wife, Louise; his mother, Arizona Lemons, of Mtn. Grove; one son, Larry Wayne of the home; two daughters, Patsy Jo of St. Charles and Rita Kay of the home; three brothers, Ancel and Leo of Mtn. Grove and Delbert of Nixa; one sister, Ruth Adams of Kansas City; and one grandchild, Kimberly Denette Baker.

Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Monday, January 3, in the Number One Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Floyd (Cotton) Barlow officiating. Military rites were conducted at the Number One Cemetery under direction of Craig-Hurtt-Hutsell of Mtn. Grove.
