Lou Pipes married J.E. Averitt in Ouachita Parish June 26, 1886. James E. is shown to have married Willie Ann Williams on March 28, 1899 in Ouachita Parish. The 1900 census shows them in Ouachita Parish. They had been married a year. Willie stated she had no children. The following children were in the household, listed as the children of James and all of an age to have been Lou's children: Early L., James W., Palma L., and Clyde C.
There is some circumstantial evidence that Lou may be Tillula M. Pipes, shown on the 1880 Ouachita Parish census as the daughter of Wesley C. and Nancy C. Pipes. They are both buried in Carlton Cemetery, Ouachita Parish.
