Terry Coughlin, Sr.
of Endicott
Terry Coughlin, Sr., 75, of Endicott, died at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Monday, December 29, 2008. He was predeceased by his former wife, Lorraine (Roma) Coughlin; and a son, Terry Coughlin, Jr. He is survived by his children, Dr. Kevin Coughlin (Dr. Mary Muse), Elmira, N.Y., Robert (Coleen) Coughlin, York, Maine, Anne (Dr. Stanley) Romanowski, Endicott; former daughter-in-law, Lisa (Bill) Clift; seven grandchildren, Jack Coughlin, Elmira, N.Y., Olivia and Thomas Coughlin, York, Maine, Kelsey and Alec Romanowski and Jeffery and Erin Coughlin, all of Endicott; sister, Marcia (Frederick) Dunn, Sarasota, Fla.; brother, William F. (Margaret) Coughlin, Concord, N.C.; also several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, a retired IBM Corp. employee, retiring with 36 years of service and a member of its Quarter Century Club. Some of Terry's affiliations and accomplishments were having served aboard the USS Alsea ATF-97, during the Korean War, 50+ years as a member of the American Legion Post 1700, Endicott and their Honor Guard, 54 years of active membership with the BPOE Elks Lodge #1977, Endicott, where he held many offices in the local and state districts and on the national level. He was an Honorary Life Member and currently in his fifteenth year as a member of the board of trustees of the New York State Elk's Association. Terry was also a former Mediator with the dispute resolution center-ACCORD and past president of the U-E Athletic Booster Club and a ten year member of its board of directors. But Terry's greatest joy was the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday 9:30 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home Thursday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the NYS Elks Association Major Projects, c/o BPOE Elks Lodge #1977, 619 North Nanticoke Avenue, Endicott, N.Y. 13760. The Elks Lodge #1977 will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow at the memorial home Thursday at 4:45 p.m.
