Margaret the eldest of 9 children, her parents were Robert Gilmore and Elizabeth Fry McQuigg,who both died when all of the children were still minors.

Margaret married Martin Evans, son of James Hampton and Nancy Laird Evans, on 10/9/1849 in Giles County, TN. To this marriage 11 children were born: Mary Elizabeth, Robert James, Alice, William John, Henry Samuel, Jesse Martin, Sarah Frances, Martha Jane, Frank Edwin, Ella May and Neva Eliza.

According to family history daughter Alice was born in Laclede Co., MO, in 1853, when the family first moved to MO from TN. She is said to have died in Oct. 1853 and is said to be buried in or near Lebanon. Her grave has not been located.

Mrs. Margaret Evans died Sunday morning at the residence of her son-in-law , Charles Pachlhofer, 779 College street. She was 76 years of age and had nine children, all of whom are married. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon and the interment was made at the Brick church cemetery, northwest of the city.
