Elwood S. Bell, 89, of Niles, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, March 29th in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center of Mishawaka. Elwood was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on August 2, 1926 to the late Bert and Evelyn (Sharpe) Bell. On July 9, 1949, he married Charlotte C. Magee. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2008. Elwood proudly served his country in the US Navy, aboard a LCS, and was honorably discharged in 1946. Elwood said “he was half way around the world and back again.” He was a life-long machinist and retired on his 65th birthday.

Elwood is survived by his daughters; Carol (Dennis) Martin of Trenary, Michigan and Susan Simpson of New Buffalo, Michigan. He was the proud grandfather of Joseph (Becky) Simpson and Christina (Shawn) Simpson. He was the great grandfather of Kelsi, Maxx, Alexx, Stefani, and Aryanna.

As per his wishes cremation is to take place with no memorial service at this time. He and his wife will be laid to rest near where they grew up in Pennsylvania. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with arrangements.
