Educated at Amherst College, 1851; Bangor Theological Seminary, Maine 1854; ordained at Amherst, MA on Oct. 4, 1854.

Married Mary Proctor at Amherst, MA on 4 Oct. 1854.

Under the auspices of the A.B.C.F. M they sailed from Boston on Nov. 28, 1854 and arrived at Honolulu on March 31, 1855. Stationed at Hana from 1855 to 1859 when they returned to the US.

Married Lettie A. Gillam on 10 Sept. 1873.

Three known children by first wife and probable three children by second wife.
