Paul Leschig, 67, a retired cheesemaker on County Trunk D, Rt. 2,
Manitowoc, died shortly before noon Saturday at the Holy Family
Hospital, at Manitowoc, where he had been a patient for a week. He had
been ill a short time. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Thursday at
Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, the Rev. T.F. Uetzann
officiating. Interment will be in Pioneers Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers.
Mr. Leschig was born in Dresden, Germany, May 9, 1890, son of the late
Frederick and Marie Tauber Leschig. In 1918 he married the former Sophie
Grone in Germany, the family immigrating to this country 33 years ago.
Pursuing the trade of cheesemaker, he was first employed at a cheese
factory at Newtonburg, Manitowoc County. In 1928 he took over the cheese
factory on County Trunk D, which he operated until six years ago when he
retired from the field to work at the Mirro Aluminum Co., at Manitowoc.
He was a longtime member of the Freier Saengerbrund Singing Society of
Manitowoc.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Walter Wigen of Rt. 4,
Manitowoc; two sons, Paul Jr. of Fairbanks, Alaska and Walter J. of
Henderson, Nevada; a sister, Mrs. Martha Tenner and a brother, Karl,
both of Germany and eight grandchildren. Friends may call at Klein &
Stangel Inc., Funeral Home, Two Rivers, after 2 pm Wednesday until 10:30
am Thursday when the casket will be taken to the church where the body
will lie in state until the time of services.
