CPO U.S. Air Force - U. S. NavyGary William Birmes, age 79, of Chambersville, Texas, passed away June 9, 2013, in Sherman, Texas. Gary was born June 22, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri, to William and Dorothy Juanita (Foster) Birmes. He married Doris Janelle Giles on September 27, 1952, at Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Gary grew up in Bath, New York where he attended school. He enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for four years. He later enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for eighteen years and retired in 1986 as a Chief Petty Officer. After retirement, Gary worked at the Federal Building in Dallas as a Federal Police Officer. He enjoyed fishing and target shooting with his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Birmes of Chambersville, Texas; children, Ricky Birmes of Snyder, Texas, Viki Birmes of Chambersville, Texas, and Ken Birmes of Carrollton, Texas; grandchildren, Mandie Willenberg and husband, Ryan, Robert Luurs and wife, Christina, Mark Birmes and wife, Amy, Janelle Payne and husband, Scott, Gary Birmes and wife, Mandy, and Amber Nygaard and husband, A. J.; great-grandchildren, Rissalynn Luurs, Brody Luurs, Coby Birmes, Shane Birmes, Guy Birmes, Anders Nygaard, and two other step-great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters, Jack Birmes and wife, Glenda, Charles Birmes and wife, Pat, and Linda Thien and husband, Gary; and a host of other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
