Isaac Bailey was born in Canada to a father who was a native of Vermont and a mother who had immigrated to Canada from Ireland. He married Mary Eliza Gibson (1855-1916), also a native Canadian, and four children [that I am aware of] were borne of their union:
Delbert J. Bailey, born March 20, 1892 in Quebec, Canada
Minerva May Bailey, born Aug 10, 1893 in Gordon, Manitoulin District, Ontario, Canada
Raymond Carl Bailey, born January 14, 1896 in Canada and
Luella M. Bailey, born @1901 in Canada.
The family immigrated to the United States in 1905. Although I cannot locate any census records for 1910, the family had relocated to Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon by the time the 1920 Census was taken in January, 1920. Raymond had married Corabelle Thimmes, a native of Perry County, Ohio, b.Sep 16, 1899. The couple was renting a home on 167 Ohio St., Ashland, Jackson Co., Oregon. Raymond was a laborer for the railroad and Corabelle was a saleslady for a drug store. Also, in that same year,
Isaac was purchasing a home with an orchard in order to support himself and his two daughters, Minerva and Luella. His wife, Mary, had died January 14, 1916, and his son, Delbert (shown as Adelbert in death records) J. Bailey had died August 17, 1915. Both Mary and Delbert were interred at Hargadine Cemetery, Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon. Daughter Minerva married Ava Wesley Holt (born June 6, 1899 in Applegate, Jackson County, Oregon) on June 7, 1920 in Jackson County, Oregon. Tragically, Minerva and Ava's marriage ended all too soon with her death on May 21, 1922. She was only 28 years of age when she passed and was buried at Hargadine Cemetery, as well. When the 1930 Census was taken (on Apr 8, 1930], Isaac had moved North to Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon, to join his surviving son, Raymond, his daughter-in-law, Corabelle, and his grandson, Robert James Bailey, who had been born in @1923. Raymond and Corabelle had relocated to Portland and purchased a home at 2738 (SE) 74th, in Portland, valued in 1930 at $4,280. Raymond was now a Plasterer, working on buildings; Corabelle was the manager at a grade school cafeteria and their son, Robert, was attending grade school. They had no radio set, per the question asked in that census. Isaac was listed as a laborer at building sites, but he was also 76 years of age as of that date. He passed away on March 13, 1936, in the 83rd year of his life and his remains were taken to Ashland where he was interred at Hargadine Cemetery.
Raymond Carl Bailey and his family were still living in their home at 2738 SE 74th, Portland, valued at $3,000 in 1940 when the Census was conducted on April 6th of that year. Raymond was now a Plastering Contractor, working in the building trades. Corabelle was listed as a sales clerk at a drug store although her obituary states she was an employee of Hack Pharmaceuticals until her retirement in the mid 1950's. In 1940, their only son, Robert James, was 17 years of age and had completed two years of high school. Raymond died January 29, 1969 at the age of 73 yrs. and Corabelle died August 27, 1989 at the age of 89 yrs. Both are buried at Rose City Cemetery in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. As of 1989 their son Robert James was still alive and living in Portland, Oregon. I was unable to learn any more about Luella, the younger daughter of Isaac, after the 1920 Census. Minerva's husband, Ava Wesley Holt, remarried almost two years after Minerva's death, on August 29, 1924 in Alameda County, California to a former Oregonian, Leona Neva Hamner (b.@ Dec 1896 in Ashland, Oregon), who had moved with her family to the Brooklyn neighborhood of Oakland, Alameda Co., California by the time the 1920 Census had been taken on Jan 2nd, 1920. They were purchasing a home at 910 E. 17th St., Oakland, Alameda Co., California. Her father, Jesse A. Hamner, a native of Wisconsin, worked for the Gas Company. His wife, Jessie, a native of Kansas, was the mother of at least two children. In 1920, their son Darrel was a furnace man at the Oakland shipyards and daughter Leona was a typist for an Insurance firm. By 1930, Ava and Leona were living in the Alisal Township of Marina, in Monterey Co., California. As of Apr 12, 1930, Ava was a Plumber, affiliated with a shop and was a World War I veteran. His father, William Henry Holt, had died from skin cancer on June 28, 1929 in Scio, Linn County, Oregon and been buried at Jefferson Cemetery, Jefferson, Marion County, Oregon. His death certificate had been signed by "A.W. Holt", whom I believe to be his son, Ava Wesley Holt.

I have not been able to locate the final resting places for either Luella Bailey, Ava Wesley Holt, Leona Neva (Hamner) Holt or Leona's parents. I have not been able to locate Robert James Bailey as of this date either. Any information regarding these people would be greatly appreciated as they are all related to me via the Whetstone and Burkhart families.
