John Gill Shorter Artillery, 1st Alabama Infantry Regiment, Company K. Enlisted from Mobile County as a new recruit on December 26th 1862. He served and was captured at Port Hudson, LA and paroled there. He made his way back to Mobile, but never rejoined the Company at Montgomery after the furlough.
