Funeral services for Goldia Winniefred Berlin, 90, of Caney Creek were conducted Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Berlin died Friday in the Madill hospital following a short illness.

She was born July 22, 1903, in Malvern, Ark., the daughter of the late Oliver and LaVatta Norwood.

She attended grade school in Broken Bow and Okfuskee and graduated from Okmulgee.

She moved to Grandfield where she met George Berlin and married him two years later on Dec. 18, 1922, in Fort Towson.

She taught school two years.

The Berlins first moved to Burkburnett, Texas, and later to Pampa where he was employed for 37 years with Shelly Oil Company.

Following retirement in 1964, they moved to Caney Creek on Lake Texoma.

The couple help found the Kingston Youth and Civic Club and she was one of the originators of the weekly Thursday breakfast.

The Berlins were active supporters of school and community youth programs.

A life-long Baptist, Mrs. Berlin was a sponsor of the Royal Ambassadors and Girls Auxiliary as well as active in several Bible studies.

She was a chapter member of Lakeview Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband on May 3, 1979m and a daughter, Doris Reed.

Mrs. Berlin is survived by three sons, Kent Berlin of McKinney, Tex., Dr. Brent Berlin of El Centro, Calif., and Flint Berlin of Shreveport, La.; seven grandchildren, Saleena, Andrea, Rick, Rocky and Kimbie Lee Berlin and Terri Sue and Bobbie Reed, and nine great-granchildren.

Services were held from Lakeview Baptist Church with Carrell Hooper of Durant officiating, assisted by Bob Fuller of Caney, Creek.

Congregatoin singing was led by A. J. Hock with Shirley and Julie Southerland singing a duet.

Burial was in the Woodberry-Forest Cemetery in Madill under the direction of Watts Funeral Home of Madill.

Casket escorts for the services and committal were Jack, Clark, Paul Brandstatt, Don Price, Edmund Zaber, Buddy Carter and Bob Thompson.

An honorary escort was Danny Southerland.
