Henry Josiah (Joe) Baker, 92, of Lea County, died in Visalia, Calif., on March 15, 2016. He was born March 14, 1924 in Lubbock, Texas, and was raised in Lea County by his parents, the late Henry and Vernie Baker. Memorial services will be held April 9, 2016 in Visalia, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Constance Litzau Baker; his second wife, Leona Reeves Baker; sisters, Bonnie Jean Goodman, Geraldine Baker, Mary Katherine Collum, Jimmie P. Steele, Verna Lorene (Jane) Hester and Hazel Ruth Baker.
He is survived by his daughter, Constance Jean (Scott) Mandle of California, and his son, Jeffery Josiah (Barbara) Baker of Hazlet, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Wilda Dixon, Carl Hester and J.W. “Lefty” Spears of Lovington and Loraine Steele of Denver City, Texas.
