Patrick was a second grade teacher at Poteau Primary School and a member of Southside Baptist Church. He was a 1997 graduate of Poteau High School and graduated from Oklahoma State University in December 2002. He also taught fifth grade in Oklahoma City before returning to Poteau. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 46, York Rite of Muskogee and a Shriner. Patrick was a member of the Alpha Delta Lambda chapter of Phi Theta Kappa while at CASC, serving as an officer.
