BOWMAN Byrne Arnold was born in Nevada, Missouri to Harry V. and Elizabeth (Jamison) Bowman . He grew up in Muskogee. Still a teenager he went to radio school and sailed around the world as a radio officer on merchant vessels. He later attended the University of Oklahoma and the University of Arkansas and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. During this time, he operated the Bristow Broadcasting Company and was an editorial writer for the Times Record of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He earned an L.L.B. from Cumberland Law School and practiced law in Muskogee and Oklahoma City for over sixty years.
He was predeceased by his wife Nancy with whom he had two children, Byrne A. Bowman, Jr., of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Sherry Melberg of Bartlesville. He also leaves two granddaughters, Janet Melberg of Breckinridge, Colorado and Jeanne Melberg of Oklahoma City. He is survived by his wife Madelyne of the home. During WWIl he was in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded the Bronze Starand served as a Colonel in the Judge Advocates Office with the 106th Infantry Division. Byrne was a member of the American Bar Association, the Oklahoma Bar Association, and other legal groups. He was a Master Mason, and member of the Military Orderof World Wars. He belonged to the Men's Dinner Club, The Petroleum Club, the Revelers, Mayfair Dance Club, and the All Souls Episcopal Church. He owned and flew his own air- craft for many years. Graveside services in the Fairlawn Cemetery with the Reverend G. David Johnson officiating.
