Mrs. Hand's Rites Held On Friday

Funeral services for Pearl Hand, 95, were held Friday, February 25, at 2:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Friona with Rev. Larry Sanders and Leon Talley officiating.

Burial was in the Friona Cemetery under the direction of Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home.

Born January 11, 1888 in Kentucky, she married John Ira Hand December 21, 1905 in Larned, Kansas. She had made her home in Friona since 1926, moving here from Freedom, Oklahoma. Mrs. Hand was a member of the Friona United Methodist Church for the past thirty years. She died Wednesday, February 23 at Prairie Acres Nursing Home.

Mrs. Hand was preceded in death by her husband John, December 27, 1928 and one daughter, Opal Fay Mears, February 28, 1951.

Survivors include three sons, D.G. Hand of Clovis, New Mexico, L.R. Hand and John Hand, both of Friona; one daughter, Irene Lotspeich of Friona; 12 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Gary Hand, Rex Hand, Nick Hand, Mike Hand, Burke Hand, Sam Mears, J.C. Mears, and Bobby Shirley.

Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Lloyd, Charlie Mercer, E.G. Phipps, Kenneth O'Brian, Melvin Southward and Clifton Harper.
