Aaron D. Laabs, 33, of White, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls surrounded by his loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Brookings. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday at Rude's Funeral Home in Brookings, with Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 6:30 pm.
Aaron Donald Laabs was born on August 16, 1982 in Brookings, SD, the son of Rodney and Jeanine (Edgar) Laabs. He grew up and attended Medary Elementary in Brookings until he moved with his family to Rutland in 1995. He attended school in Rutland and graduated from Rutland High School in 2001. Aaron worked at various places around the Brookings area and has been employed at Larson Manufacturing for over 10 years. In 2010, he moved to White, SD where he bought his own home. He was very proud of his house and loved to decorate and show it off to anyone who came over.
He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and NASCAR fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing poker with friends, reading and playing video games. Aaron took pride in his cars and all the accessories he would add to them. Most of all he loved playing with his nieces and nephews.
Grateful for having shared their lives with him are his parents, Rodney and Jeanine Laabs, of Brookings, SD; one brother, Benjamin (Tonya) Laabs, of Brookings, SD; one sister, April (Tyson) Johannsen, of Sioux Falls, SD; his nephews and niece, Dylan Ohlsen, Peyton Laabs and Amelia Laabs, all of Brookings; his grandparents, Carol Laabs, of Brookings, SD and Donald and Kathy Edgar, of Orient, SD and a host of relatives.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Delores Edgar and Harold Laabs and two uncles.
