Bonita "Bonnie" DeMeyer, age 72, of 205 W. Main St., Mishicot, died peacefully Wednesday August 14, 2013, at the Riverwood Estates Assisted Living Facility in Manitowoc surrounded by her loving family. Bonnie was born August 5, 1941, in Two Rivers, to the late Joseph and Grace Gohr and has been a lifelong area resident. She was a 1959 graduate of the Mishicot High School. Bonnie married Robert J. DeMeyer June 29, 1973 and he preceded her in death June 15, 1992. She worked for the Mirro Corporation and retired from there in 2003. Bonnie was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, and a member of the Altar Society of the church. She worked as a volunteer for TREP for many years, and belonged to the Lakeshore Ruby Red Hatter's Association. Bonnie was very active in the beautification of Mishicot, tending to the many flower gardens, and received the Mishicot Community Service Award. She was an avid Green Bay Packer Fan. Bonnie lived for her family, especially her grandchildren. She cared for so many people despite her 24 year battle with cancer. Bonnie lived life to it's fullest.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Nelson, of Neenah; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Denise DeMeyer, of Whitelaw; four grandchildren, Bryce and Lucas Nelson, Abby and Joe DeMeyer; one sister, Wendy (Bill) Noyd, of Endicott, N.Y.; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Chuck Rogge, of West Bend; Donna Gohr, of Mishicot; Jean (Bob) Blahnik, of Two Rivers; her extended family, Dan (Jan) DeMeyer, and the Smoak family, Kendall (Sandra), Rebecca and family; two nephews; Travis Noyd, David (Aeriel) Gohr. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard Gohr; her sister, Jane Rogge; two nephews, Tim Noyd and Steve Gohr; and by her very special friend, Harold Smoak.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, with the Reverend John Becker officiating, with burial of her cremated remains in the Mishicot Public Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. on Tuesday at the church, until the time of service at 11 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation. Bonnie's family would like to express a very special thank you to her caregivers, many special friends, and to her neighbors for their years of love, and support extended to Bonnie and our family during her years of illness, your kindness will always be remembered. The Lambert-Eckert Funeral Home, of Mishicot is assisting the DeMeyer family with funeral arrangments.
